The discipline of chemistry entered the top 1 ‰ of ESI global rankings in 2018, making it the first discipline at Beijing University of Chemical Technology to enter the top 1 ‰ globally. In recent years, the ESI ranking of the discipline of chemistry has continued to steadily increase, ranking 40th globally in May 2024. There are several options for undergraduate enrollment, including chemistry (top tier foundation), chemistry (dual bachelor's degree in chemistry and student engineering), and science experimental classes (green chemistry). Chemistry (Foundation Top notch) is the first training base for outstanding students in our university's basic disciplines, and currently the only selected base. It implements a dual college system of academy+college training mode, conducts international exchange visits during the summer, and offers cutting-edge research and advanced master's courses for senior students to further their studies in the discipline. The university leans towards top-notch classes in terms of policy guarantees, faculty allocation, and graduate recommendation. Chemistry (Foundation Top Class) focuses on cultivating academic interests, critical thinking, self-learning ability, and scientific research ability, aiming to cultivate world-class scientists and leading talents in the field of chemistry for national strategic development.
Chemistry (dual bachelor's degree in chemistry and biotechnology) aims to meet the demand of society for interdisciplinary fields and cultivate innovative talents with interdisciplinary skills. A hierarchical and interconnected talent cultivation system for chemistry majors has been formed, providing broad development space for students' interest cultivation, specialty discovery, and career planning. After meeting the graduation requirements, students will be awarded both a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Bioengineering. Cross disciplinary talents who can engage in scientific research, technological innovation, engineering design, product development, and other related fields at the intersection of chemistry and biology after graduation.
The Science Experimental Class (Green Chemistry) is a comprehensive enrollment program that includes applied chemistry, energy chemistry, and resource chemistry. The majors of Applied Chemistry, Energy Chemistry, and Resource Chemistry are designed to meet the needs of social and economic development, and cultivate innovative talents with composite application skills.



Graduate studies

Focus  on cultivating graduate students' patriotism, innovation ability, and  sense of social responsibility. Strengthen the construction of graduate  courses and professional degrees, improve the quality standards for  graduate education and degree granting, and establish an international  exchange platform for graduate students. Strengthen the promotion,  education, and guidance of academic ethics and research integrity, and  prevent and resolutely handle academic misconduct among graduate  students. Strictly implement the responsibility system for graduate  supervisors and fulfill the fundamental task of cultivating students'  moral character through supervisors. Following the principles of  first-class standards, advanced systems, classified evaluation, and  dynamic monitoring, we adhere to the concept of service demand, quality  improvement, and connotation development, and construct a quality  assurance system for graduate education that is led by the school, with  the training unit as the main body, and with the participation of  graduate students and supervisors. We strengthen quality awareness, form  a unique graduate education model, and have representative achievements  with display.

(1)  Scientifically develop training programs and establish curriculum  systems. Tailored training programs and plans based on professional  needs, and developed a reasonable curriculum system. The curriculum  emphasizes the combination of theory and practice, theoretical  foundation and cutting-edge disciplines, and depth and breadth;  Strengthen the scientification, rationalization, and  internationalization of course content and scope, offer open and  interdisciplinary elective courses, expand the space for graduate  students to choose courses independently, enhance the comprehensive  quality and ability cultivation of graduate students, and broaden their  international perspective.
(2) Develop effective quality assurance  measures for the graduate training process. Adhere to the principle of  student-centered cultivation, and implement a training model that  combines the mentor responsibility system and the mentor led guidance  teacher group responsibility system. Standardize the assessment  mechanisms for graduate thesis proposal, mid-term, and defense, increase  the proportion of blind review for graduate thesis, and strictly  monitor and control the training process; Reasonably evaluate the  research achievements and abilities of graduate students based on the  periodicity and lifespan of scientific research.
(3) Establish a  multidimensional and multi-level training model. Relying on national and  provincial-level scientific research platforms, integrating the  research and development of national level major projects into the  training process of graduate students; Integration of industry and  education, relying on applied innovation talent training bases such as  Anqing Institute and school enterprise joint experimental bases, to  strengthen the training of professional degree graduate students; Expand  international education channels and continuously improve the  internationalization level of graduate education; Encourage graduate  students to participate in various academic conferences and exchanges,  and create a lively academic atmosphere.
(4) Strengthen the academic  ideological and moral education of graduate students, and cultivate  innovative talents with both moral integrity and professional  competence. Cultivate innovative thinking and eliminate the research  model of following the trend or following orders; Pay attention to the  standardized management and establishment of academic ethics for  graduate students, and establish a good research integrity style that  respects science, data, and seeks truth from facts; Strengthen the  ideological and political education of graduate students, and integrate  correct worldviews, outlooks on life, and values into daily learning and  scientific research.
